Laurier Football is pleased to announce the commitment of Liam Spencer (linebacker) from Glendale High School Gemini in Tillsonburg, ON.

The 6’3 220lb Spencer was a member of the 2014 Team Ontario Selects team that defeated Team USA in Arlington, Texas that February. Liam was also a dominant figure in Glendale’s championship season this year, playing linebacker, defensive end and center for the Gemini.

Spencer has played for Laurier Special Teams Coordinator/Recruiting Coordinator/Defensive Backs Coach, Dwayne Cameron, on the aforementioned Team Ontario squad and at Glendale for Eric VanMoerkerke (brother of Laurier’s Associate Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator & Defensive Line Coach, Ron VanMoerkerke).

“We are extremely excited about the addition of Liam to our team for 2016. Liam has the strength and size to compete early on and has played at a high level with Team Ontario. He is also a great student and has impressive character qualities that are good for our locker room,” said Michael Faulds, Manager of Football Operations & Head Coach.

Spencer will study Political Science with a Management Option while at Laurier.

  1. Congratulations Laurier, and Liam….
You have both made excellent choices.
This is the only place Liam wanted to go, for well over a year, to the point he felt guilty about accepting invites to other universities, because he knew where he wanted to go already. He didn’t want to lead anyone on.
I know I’m biased, but you would be hard pressed to find someone his age, with the character, integrity and loyalty as this young man.
He faces challenges and adversity better than I ever could, and is always there to help someone to their feet.
I don’t know if I’ve ever been prouder, of anything connected to my life, than Liam.
Good luck, I’m extremely excited for the future of your team!
