New quarterback Jacob Spinella will “compete right away”

image001Laurier Football is excited to announce the commitment of quarterback Jacob Spinella from the Ottawa Myers Riders (OFVL) & Napean Eagles (NCAFA). Spinella was the OVFL’s leading passer this year with 3,054 yds, 38 TDs and  11 INTs (including playoffs), while leading his team to the OVFL Championship Finals.

The 6’0, 185 pound QB followed that up by passing for another 2,645 yds, 37 TD’s and 8 INT’s in the NCAFA Fall League in Ottawa.

“Jacob, statistically, had one of the best QB seasons I have ever seen for an OVFL and high school quarterback,” said Laurier Head Coach Michael Faulds.

“With the graduation of our two senior quarterbacks James Fracas and Eric Morelli, Jacob will come in and compete right away.”

Jacob visited Laurier during training camp and attended the 65-30 victory over his hometown Gee Gee’s in October. He was also able to enjoy the family atmosphere around the program and the game day experience. Spinella will study Business while attending Laurier.
