Laurier Football is very happy to announce the news of its latest commit, offensive lineman Trawn Barrington of Canada Prep Academy in Welland, Ontario.
The 6’5″, 301lb Barrington started at right tackle for Canada Prep this season, that included match-ups against a number of highly ranked US high school programs – including Archbishop Moeller High School in Cincinnati, Ohio. Barrington (originally from Brampton, ON) attended David Suzuki HS prior to moving to Canada Prep. He has also played for the Brampton Bulldogs of the OVFL.
“Trawn is a major prospect based on his physical tools. His size to athleticism ratio is unique. He is big, long, and agile,” said Laurier Recruiting Coordinator Dwayne Cameron, adding that he’s an “under the radar prospect that brings huge potential upside.”
“Under the tutelage of the best OL coach in the CIS, Irv Daymond, Trawn will have the opportunity to reach that potential. We have been looking to increase the size on the offensive line and Trawn addresses this need for us,” said Cameron.
Laurier’s offensive line is becoming a position of strength for the long term future of the program. Barrington will add to a very solid young core that includes a great class of 2015 OL recruits, highlighted by CFC Top 100 player Drew Mairleitner and Team Ontario member JD Richardson.
Barrington will study Psychology at Laurier.
