Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

I’m Excited to say that we will once again be playing a preseason game this year and our opponent will be the very tough Montreal Carabins on Saturday, August 20th at 1pm.

The advantage of going to Quebec versus out West (like we did last year to play the Saskatchewan Huskies) is that we will be able to take more players. Last year we took 50 players and this year 70 players will get the awesome experience.

The opportunity to play a team that has played in the last two Vanier Cups, including when they won it in 2014, is exciting for our program. Coach Danny Maciocia runs a great program and every single year they are competing with Laval to see who wins the Quebec conference.

We return immediately following the game and we will then have a full week to get ready for our home opener against the Queens Gaels on August 28th.

Here’s what is happening:
The 17th Annual Friends of Golden Hawk Football Reception and Dinner
Presented once again by Sun Life Financial will be held Thursday, April 28th at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario.

We are excited that this year we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1991 Vanier Cup winning team. That year our Golden Hawks beat the Mount Allison Mounties 25-18 in front of over 30,000 fans at Skydome. To attend this great event you can purchase your tickets/table here:

Laurier Football Coaches in Texas
This week Coach Dwayne Cameron and Coach Irv Daymond are in Dallas, Texas coaching Team Ontario as they get ready to play Team USA on Friday.

This is a great opportunity to recruit some of the top players in the province and build relationships with these talented student athletes.

Coach Cameron is the Defensive Coordinator for the Under-18 team and Coach Daymond is the Offensive Line Coach for the Under-17 team.

Winter Practice #5 will be outside
With the warmer weather the last week, our field is actually fully cleared of snow. It will be a brisk -1 on Friday, but we will take advantage of the increased space and be on our field from 3pm – 4:30pm for practice.

Adopt-A-Hawk: $33,017 and counting. THANK YOU!
Our goal at the beginning of the year of surpassing $33,000 has been accomplished.
Thank you to all that have helped us reach this goal. It helps our program greatly and we are closing the gap with the OUA’s top teams.
