Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

I’m pleased to announce that we will be having both a high school and kids camp this year. If you know anyone that may be interested in attending either one, please send them my contact info or simply send them the link to the PDFs below.

The high school camp will be in the spring with Junior Day (Grades 9 &10) on Saturday, April 9th and Senior Day (Grades 11 & 12) on Sunday, April 10th. These full day camps will include two full practices and film study in between. The campers will be coached by our very own Laurier football coaches and players. School Football Camp.pdf

The kids camp (ages 7-12) will be the week of July 18th – 22nd. This full week camp is for those just wanting to learn the sport in a safe and controlled manner and for those already involved in organized football. There will be on field practices, along with some fun games and even pool time to cool off. Football Camp.pdf

Here’s what is happening:

Winter Practice #5
It was great to be outdoors again and on our own field. Having the extra space and lines on the field makes a huge difference and we had a great practice Friday.

This Friday, with the frigid temperatures in the forecast, we will be back at RIM Park from 2:30pm – 4:30pm. This is open to anyone wanting to watch.

We are thrilled with a couple more great additions this past week in recruiting:
LB Daniel Szatmari 6’1” 220 from Welland
DB Adem Ireyomi 5’11” 170 from Windsor

This weekend is also big for recruiting as it is the OUA Combines. They will be held Friday/Saturday in Ottawa, Sunday in Toronto and Monday in Stoney Creek.

The 17th Annual Friends of Golden Hawk Football Reception and Dinner
Presented once again by Sun Life Financial will be held Thursday, April 28th at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario.

We are excited that this year we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1991 Vanier Cup winning team. To attend this great event you can purchase your tickets/table here:

Adopt-A-Hawk: $33,017 and counting. THANK YOU!
Our goal at the beginning of the year of surpassing $33,000 has been accomplished. Thank you to all that have helped us reach this goal. It helps our program greatly and we are closing the gap with the OUA’s top teams.

Lastly, I would like to extend my condolences on behlaf of the entire Laurier football program to the family and friends of Michael (Mark) Sillberg who passed away from cancer on Sunday. Mark played football with the Golden Hawks in 1974 and 75.

Until next week,
