Laurier Football is extremely happy to announce the commitment of its fifth CFC Top 100 player, Esson Hamilton.

Hamilton is a 6’1″, 185 lb quarterback from Chaminade High School and the Toronto Jr Argos of the Ontario Football Conference (OFC). He is a dynamic QB who is routinely also the most explosive athlete on the field.

“Esson is a terrific athlete with outstanding arm strength. He is eager to come in and compete and I’m excited to coach him,” said Laurier Head Coach Michael Faulds of the dual-threat QB.

Hamilton has led his respective summer and high school teams to great heights this year. At Chaminade, he led the Gryphons to the 2015 Toronto Catholic High School Championship and an OFSAA Bowl Series berth. It was there that they competed against Hamilton Catholic powerhouse St. Thomas More, featuring defensive back (and fellow 2015 Laurier commit) Mitchell Phillips.

Hamilton was a multi-purpose, one man show; intercepting STM twice and returning a kickoff 73 yards.

In OFC summer playoff action, he passed for 302 yards in the Argos’ semi-final loss to eventual OFC Champion Burlington Stampeders.

Hamilton is happy to have the recruiting process come to a close and is looking forward to beginning his career as a Golden Hawk.

“Laurier is the best fit academically and athletically for me. I would love to help bring a championship to this program.”
