Golden Hawk alumni and friends of the football program,

It is currently very quiet, as the university is in Reading Week. Many of our players have made the journeys home for the week and they get to recharge their batteries for the second half of the semester.

We have asked the players to enjoy their break and rest up physically and mentally, but to also make sure they dedicate four hours a day to their school work. If they do this, they will return to campus with no regrets and they will feel confident that they can have academic success this semester.

When the players return, they will have just four more weeks of early morning workouts and the weekly meetings and practice. Then we will be into our two week spring camp, followed by their exam schedules. With the busy schedule these student athletes have the semester flies by very quickly and before we know it we are into the summer.

Here’s what is happening:

Recruiting
Excited to announce the addition of QB Esson Hamilton from Chaminade College in Toronto: https://laurierfootball.com/2016/02/13/dual-threat-qb-commits-to-laurier/

Last weekend our staff got to see and meet many recruits at the OUA Combines. Lots of talent from grade 9 – 12 from across the province.

The 17th Annual Friends of Golden Hawk Football Reception and Dinner
Presented once again by Sun Life Financial will be held Thursday, April 28th at Bingemans Conference Centre in Kitchener, Ontario.

We are excited that this year we will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the 1991 Vanier Cup winning team and also the 50th anniversary of the great 1966 team. To attend this great event you can purchase your tickets/table here: http://www.laurierathletics.com/generatepage.php?ID=58

Congratulations Men’s & Women’s Curling

Adopt-A-Hawk – $33,017 and counting. THANK YOU!
Our goal at the beginning of the year of surpassing $33,000 has been accomplished. Thank you to all that have helped us reach this goal. It helps our program greatly and we are closing the gap with the OUA’s top teams.
