Laurier football weekly update

faulds profile 1Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

It was a very productive bye week filled with: workouts, therapy, meetings and a few practices. Now the whole team is gearing up for a very important road test in the nation’s capital.

This Friday, we will travel up to Ottawa stay the night and on Saturday, September 17th we will take on the Carleton Ravens at 1pm.

Carleton is a 2-1 football team right now with a lot of talent. Like us, their first recruiting class as a staff is now in their 4th year and they are starting to really play well together as a team. This year they stumbled a bit out of the gate and lost on the road at McMaster. But then, just a week later, they won a massive home game beating the Western Mustangs. This past week, no surprise to anyone, they handled the Toronto Varsity Blues with ease.

They have some very explosive weapons on offence led by quarterback Jesse Mills, receiver Nate Behar and running back Jade Rowe.

On defence, their best player is Kenny Onyeka, who is our very own Godfrey Onyeka’s brother and Nakas Onyeka’s cousin.

On special teams, they have the best returner in the country – Tunde Adeleke – who has three punt return touchdowns in just three games this year.

We will definitely treat this like a business trip and we have to play four full quarters of disciplined, tough, hard-nosed football.

Here’s what is happening:
