Laurier jumps to #5 in Canada

TORONTO, ON – Following their third straight victory to start the season, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team jumped to No. 5 in the CIS football national ranks that were announced on Tuesday morning.

Rising two positions in the Top 10 after their victory over the previously No. 4 ranked Carleton Ravens this past Saturday, Laurier now enjoys their highest ranking since the 2007 season, when the Hawks occupied the No. 5 position in each of the last three polls of that year.

The Hawks, who are currently tied for first in the OUA with a 3-0 mark, sit as the second-ranked team in the conference behind the Western Mustangs (3-1), who sit at No. 4 in Canada, and just ahead of the team their tied with for first place, the Ottawa Gee-Gees (3-0), who are No. 6.

Laurier is back in action this Saturday as they host the Waterloo Warriors (0-4) at University Stadium for their annual Homecoming game. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. and tickets for the game are available at or by visiting the Hawk Desk or U Desk on the campus of Wilfrid Laurier University.
