Laurier football weekly update

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

Unfortunately, the season ended one week before we had envisioned at the hands of the Laval Rouge et Or 36-6 in Quebec City Saturday. Simply put, we did not execute even close to as well as we wanted to or as close to what would have been needed to beat a team like Laval. GAME RECAP

Even after a positive season, what you quickly realize is that only one team every year is truly happy at the end of the season. Saturday in Quebec City will definitely sit with our coaches and players all offseason and motivate us to work that much harder going forward. That is a good thing!

A giant THANK YOU to the staff, players, alumni, families, friends, sponsors and supporters who all have a hand in our success! Whether you have supported financially, cheered your heart out in London at the Yates Cup or simply sent an email of encouragement, it means a lot to our program. We win and lose together and that is what makes this program and the upward journey so special.

Here’s what is happening:

Last Practice
Part of the reason for our progress has been the extra practices until the Vanier Cup. Even this year, coming up one game short we will still have one more practice tonight. This allows the development players who did not dress all year to showcase their abilities in a scrimmage.

We’re off to a great start in recruiting this year with the commitment of seven players so far. Check out the “Class of 2017” page to see the list of names and some game highlights.

Atlantic Schooner’s Grey Cup Pre-Party
As another way to raise funds for the football program, we are selling tickets to the Atlantic Schooner’s Grey Cup Pre-Party on Thursday, November 24 at the Toronto Convention Centre.

Tickets are $20 and can be purchased online at

We still have some of our players that have yet to be adopted. Please let us know if you are interested and we can find the perfect player for you.

Thank you to so many of you that have already sponsored one of our players!
