Laurier Football is pleased to add athletic inside linebacker Avery Armstrong (6’3”, 190lbs) to an already strong defensive class.
Armstrong played a full US high school game schedule this past season at Clarkson Prep School (Football North) in Mississauga. At Clarkson, Armstrong actually lined up at defensive end on a regular basis and that is something that caught the eye of Recruiting Coordinator Dwayne Cameron.
“Athletic versatility is such a huge asset. Having guys that can play different positions at a high level is a dream. It allows us to do multiple things system wise with people in different places,” said Cameron.
Armstrong is excited to get his academic and athletic career at Laurier.
“Laurier is the right academic fit for me and it has a great football program. The campus made me feel very welcome on my visit there,” said Armstrong.
Head Coach Michael Faulds feels that Armstrong is an excellent signing for the Hawks.
“I really like what Avery can do athletically. He has a big frame that will continue to grow. We are very excited to have him here,” said Faulds.
