Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football coach Michael Faulds will be one of five inductees who be honoured by the Western University Mustangs for their 2017 Wall of Champions at TD Stadium on April 7th.
Faulds will be recognized for his achievements as a quarterback with the Mustangs, including consecutive Yates Cup MVP honours in 2007 and 2008 before becoming Ontario University Athletics MVP in 2009. At the time of his graduation, he was the all-time CIS passing yards leader with 10,811 yards and held the single season record with 3,033 yards.
To this day, he is just one of three quarterbacks to hit the 10,000 yard mark with the club and at the time of graduation. As head coach at Laurier, Faulds might be most well known for leading the Golden Hawks to the largest fourth-quarter comeback in Yates Cup history, overcoming a 21-point deficit, to defeat the Western Mustangs in the 2016 OUA men’s football championship. He was named the 2016 OUA Men’s Football Coach of the Year soon after.
Faulds’ plaque will be one of several unveiled at 12:30 p.m. on Friday. He and his fellow inductees will be further honoured that evening at the annual Wall of Champions Dinner, which will be hosted at the London Convention Centre.
