Laurier football weekly update

EastWest2017_2Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

Very exciting times for three of our players drafted in the 2017 CFL Draft. Linebacker Nakas Onyeka was the 36th pick by the Toronto Argonauts, defensive end Kwaku Boateng was the 41st selection by the Edmonton Eskimos and offensive lineman Brett Golding was the 56th pick and is heading to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

CFL training camps are held at the end of May and beginning of June. We will be sure to update everyone on how Nakas, Kwaku and Brett are doing with their new teams. CLICK HERE FOR STORY

This past week was also a very important one for three other Golden Hawk players, as defensive back Isaiah Messam, defensive end Rashari Henry and defensive back Godfrey Onyeka were all in Quebec City for the annual USports East-West Bowl.

This event is for the top players from around the country who are about to enter their senior years. It is really when they get noticed by CFL teams; the process begins and the journey towards the 2018 CFL Draft.

All three tested very well and caught the eyes of numerous scouts. In Saturday’s game, all three players represented the West Team. Coach Dwayne Cameron was the Defensive Coordinator and Coach Irv Daymond was the Offensive Line Coach.

The West dominated coming away with a 37-13 victory. FULL GAME RECAP HERE.
