The month of May has quickly come and gone and already we are under two and a half months until we start training camp.
More players than ever have decided to stay in Kitchener-Waterloo this summer to train and work out with their teammates. Many of these players spend the summer not only training, but taking summer school classes and working a variety of jobs.
To be a really good team, we need to have our foot on the gas all 12 months of the year. We have the luxury here at Laurier of having 90% of our roster live within a two-hour radius of the campus. We could recruit more nationally, but the more players you have out of province, the more players you have away in the summer months.
Our philosophy is that we will go outside the two hour radius for very special players, but that there is enough strong talent in the area that want to stay all summer.

Local summer football update
The Cambridge Lions of the Ontario Provincial Football League (OPFL) are 1-2 on the season after a tight 28-21 loss to the Hamilton Varsity Tiger-Cats on Saturday night.
Next up for the Lions are the Kingston Varsity Grenadiers, who they visit at Richardson Stadium on Saturday at 4pm.
The Waterloo Predators of the Ontario Varsity Football League (OVFL) fell to 0-3 on the year after a 22-13 loss to the Metro Toronto Wildcats.
This week, the Preds play the Hamilton Ironmen at Ron Joyce Stadium on Saturday at 1pm.
