Laurier football weekly update

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

Many people tied to Laurier Football were in attendance on Saturday at Wildwinds Golf Links for the Gary Jeffries Golf Classic. It was a fun afternoon honouring the great career of Coach Jeff. Only six head coaches ever at our schools great football program and four of us were there together on Saturday.

All three of our drafted players saw game action in the first week of CFL preseason football. Offensive lineman Brett Golding had his named called in the third quarter for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Linebacker Nakas Onyeka got some playing time for the Toronto Argonauts and got a tackle on defense. Lastly, Kwaku Boateng of the Edmonton Eskimos did very well in the second half with many quarterback pressures and a fumble recovery.

Kicker Ronnie Pfeffer – Toronto Argonauts
Ronnie is no longer with the Ottawa Redblacks, but he wasn’t without a home for very long. The Toronto Argonauts have signed the former Golden Hawk kicker. READ HERE

Local Summer Football Update
The Cambridge Lions of the OPFL are 2-2 on the year after a big 41-14 win on the road in Kingston. The Lions’ next game is Saturday at 8pm against the Niagara Spears.

The Waterloo Predators of the OVFL move to 1-3 on the year after recording their first win of the season, 20-18 over Hamilton. This Saturday at 4:30pm the Preds host Ottawa Myers.
