Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,
Our first practice last Friday was a good one. There was great effort, excitement and enthusiasm to work hard and get better.
A special thank you to so many Laurier Alumni and current CFL players that came back to share their expertise with the current roster. Kwaku Boateng, Nakas Onyeka, Ese Mrabure Ajufo, Chris Ackie, Courtney Stephen and Dillon Campbell all took time out of their busy schedules to help out our team.
We are now into week number two of training and everyone is working extremely hard. The players have settled in nicely to the routine of waking up early every day and getting a good weight training session in.
Every week, we are now going to award the “Laurier Hard Hat” and this is presented to the player that gave the most effort all week in the gym and at practice.
The hard hat represents: work ethic, toughness, heart, desire and leadership. You wake up, put on your steel-toe boots, your hard hat and you punch your time clock ticket and you are committed to work hard.
For week #1 the hard hat went to rookie running back Kevin Wong.
Here’s what is happening:
BIG recruit commitment
We’re excited by the commitment of Offensive Lineman Cooper Hamilton from Nantyr Shores Secondary School in Innisfil, ON.
Cooper is 6’7” and a very lean 265 pounds with the ability and work ethic to put on size in the weight room.
Coach Cameron & Coach Daymond in Texas
Once again we have two coaches down in Texas coaching some of the best young players in Ontario. Coach Cameron is the Head Coach for the U18 team and Coach Daymond is the OL coach for the U16 team.
Congratulations to Head Coach Rick Osborne
Laurier Women’s Hockey coach is set to retire at the end of the season.
