Laurier football weekly update

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

It was a great week in Quebec City at the 2018 U SPORTS Valero East-West Bowl. This all-star game, which featured the top third-year players from across the country, had the West team win a close, defensive battle 15-14.

Unfortunately, running back Levondre Gordon suffered an injury on the testing day and couldn’t participate in the game. All other Golden Hawks, which included receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr., offensive lineman Drew Mairleitner, defensive tackle Trevaughan James and defensive end Robbie Smith all played well.

Smith had a sack and Gittens Jr. had some incredible punt returns to go along with three receptions for 38 yards.

We also had coaches helping out all week; Coach Dwayne Cameron was the West Defensive Coordinator and Coach Irv Daymond was the West Offensive Line Coach.

Altogether, there was fantastic Laurier representation and all five Golden Hawks are definitely on many CFL teams radar now. READ MORE
