WATERLOO, ON – The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team have announced their players of the week following the team’s Week 4 defeat to the Waterloo Warriors.
Brentyn Hall – Receiver
Hall, a native of Toronto, had his best game of the season against the Warriors, hauling in four catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. Included in the fourth-year business major’s numbers was a 74-yard catch and run touchdown that gave the Golden Hawks the lead early in the second quarter. Coming into the contest with only 60 yards receiving, the performance sets Hall back on pace to eclipse 500 yards for the third consecutive year.
Scott Hutter – Linebacker
Hutter, a native of London, Ont., moved from safety to linebacker for the first time in his Laurier career on Saturday against Waterloo and did not look out of place. The fourth-year environmental studies major recorded 3.5 tackles, including a tackle for a loss, while also disrupting Waterloo’s passing game with two pass breakups. His play was instrumental in helping the Hawks limit the Warriors to just 115 yards on the ground in the contest.
Tyler Eckert – Cover
Eckert, a native of Burnaby, B.C., had the best game of his young rookie campaign on Saturday as he finished the game with three total tackles. Included in those numbers for the first-year arts major were a pair of special teams’ tackles, including snuffing out a potential reverse that the Warriors tried to employ off the opening kickoff of the second half. In total, Waterloo was held to just seven return yards on the two special teams plays in which he recorded a tackle.
