Laurier Football Update – October 2020

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

This newsletter is brought to you by our great friends and the best movers AMJ Campbell.

We trust that you and your families are all still doing well this fall and that you had an enjoyable Thanksgiving weekend earlier this month. Amazingly this weekend Saturday, October 24th would have been the Battle of Waterloo and the eighth and final game of the regular season.

From a team standpoint we are excited to say that we are in week three of being back on the field for some group practices. These by no means are your typical practices with 100 players, 25 staff members, equipment and some contact – these practices are without equipment, facemasks are worn and the team is divided into 30-person maximum pods. That being said, after the previous 6-7 months that we have all gone through it feels amazing for coaches and players to get out there and run around.

Golden Hawk Hall of Fame for star Running Back Dillon Campbell

Dillon Campbell was one of seven inductees into the Laurier Golden Hawks Hall of Fame during Homecoming weekend in late September. Dillon is the humblest superstar we have ever had the privilege to coach. Not only was he an OUA All-Star, U Sports All-Canadian, Laurier’s All-Time Leading Rusher and 2014 OUA MVP, but he was also loved by every single teammate and coach for how he carried himself on and off the field.
