Austin Reusch – Assistant Defensive Backs Coach

Austin joined the Laurier coaching staff in 2017 shortly after his four year playing career completed in 2015. He currently works under his former position Coach Dwayne Cameron as a Defensive Backs & Special Teams Assistant.

Since coming to Laurier in 2012, he has played with and/or coached multiple Laurier DBs who have been OUA All-Stars and All-Canadians – three of whom have gone on to be top picks in the CFL Draft.

During the off-season, Austin is the Defensive Coordinator & DB Coach for the Cambridge Lions varsity program.

As a player, Austin played several spots in Laurier’s Defensive Backfield from 2012-2015 during the program’s resurgence. He was a four-time Laurier Defensive Player of the Week, as well as the OUA Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in the 2015 OUA Quarterfinal @ McMaster, helping Laurier win their first playoff game since 2009. His career was consummated with an invite to the CFL Combine in 2016.

Austin studied Business at Laurier’s Lazaridis School of Business and graduated with Academic All-Canadian marks in his senior year of 2016.
