After returning to the OUA playoffs in 2014, the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks appear poised to make another step forward as they look to make their way back to the top of the OUA.
SASKATOON, SK – The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team opened their 2015 season with a 33-10 loss to the Saskatchewan Huskies in non-conference action Friday night.
Third-year Saskatchewan receiver Mitch Hillis hauled in nine passes for 187 yards and 2 touchdowns on the night while fourth-year Huskie quarterback Drew Burko finished the night 13-for-20 with a pair of touchdownds and 214 yards.

WATERLOO — The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks have gone through their pre-flight checklist and are taking off for the University of Saskatchewan this week.
The football Hawks have accepted a pre-season date with the Saskatchewan Huskies, a nod to 10th anniversary of the teams’ Vanier Cup clash.
The two squads hook up on Friday at 8 p.m. (EDT) for an out-of-conference tune-up at Saskatoon’s 6,000-seat Griffiths Stadium.
The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team is heading out West this week as they will face the Saskatchewan Huskies in a non-conference game on Friday night.
Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. Eastern and the game can be seen live on CanadaWest.tv.
The matchup against Saskatchewan will mark the 10-year anniversary of Laurier’s thrilling 2005 Vanier Cup victory over the Huskies. That game saw the underdog Golden Hawks rally late against Saskatchewan as Brian Devlin connected on a 32-yard field goal with 19 seconds left to give the purple and gold a 24-23 win for their second-ever Vanier Cup Championship.
