Charlie Taggart – Defensive Backs

Charlie played high school football for Westdale Secondary School, winning 3 city championships and making one OFSSA appearance in his four years there. While at Westdale, he earned the Bruce Hall award for the hardest working player.

Charlie then spent five years playing OUA football at the University of Guelph, where he started as a freshman, and in 2015 winning a Yates Cup with the Gryphons. In his final year, he earned the Granite Gryphon Award for the hardest working player.

Charlie returned to Westdale in the spring of 2019 to be the defensive coordinator for the Jr. Westdale football team.

Charlie has been coaching football at various levels and in different roles for the past ten years (HMFA, High school, OVFL, OFL, OPFL, OUA). Most recently Charlie was on staff with the Golden Hawks for the 2019 season where he had the role of assistant defensive line coach. Charlie was also named the offensive coordinator for the Cambridge Lions varsity program for the 2020 season. Charlie also runs his own football development program where he works with athletes at various levels (high school, Usports, CFL) and positions.
