Dwayne Cameron – Special Teams Coordinator, Recruiting Coordinator & Defensive Backs Coach

Dwayne Cameron is entering his sixth season as the Recruiting Coordinator, Special Teams Coordinator & Defensive Backs Coach. Since 2013, Cameron has played a significant role in transforming Laurier’s roster into perhaps the nation’s fastest football team, through its scouting and recruiting.

He oversees a group of eight regional scouts, in addition to the coaching staff, to continually upgrade Laurier’s talent.  Laurier’s Special Teams units have rated among the nation’s elite during Cameron’s five seasons at the helm.

The Golden Hawks have ranked in the Top 5 teams in the nation in either Kickoff Return or Punt Return average for all of his five seasons as Coordinator, leading the nation twice (2014, 2016) in Kickoff Return average. Cameron coached OUA All-Star, and 2014 All-Canadian Kicker Ronnie Pfeffer (currently in the CFL) and Kurleigh Gittens Jr., the 2017 2nd Team All-Canadian Returner.

Laurier Defensive Backs have garnered an elite reputation under Coach Cameron during his two separate stints as the Hawks DB Coach (2004-2009, 2012-current). He has coached 14 1st & 2nd Team All-Canadians and 23 1st & 2nd Team OUA All-Stars in the secondary here.

In 2010 & 2011, Cameron served as Defensive Backs/Special Teams Assistant with the Hamilton Tiger Cats of the CFL.

Coach Cameron and his wife Lisa reside in Kitchener, and they have three children: Greg, Kiana, and Darian.
