Nick Rockell – Running Backs Coach

Nick Rockell has been the Running Backs coach for Laurier since the 2018 season.

Coach Rockell comes to the Golden Hawks after 27 years coaching in England where his notable achievements include time as Head Coach for the London Blitz, Norwich Devils and University of East Anglia, appearing in numerous Bowl games and winning 4 National Titles plus one European Cup Championship.

Coach Rockell also spent 4 years leading the Running Backs for the Great Britain Lions national team, winning a Bronze medal in the 2013 European Championship tournament.

Also currently coaching for Bluevale Collegiate High School football, Coach Rockell spent 2 years working with the Cambridge Lions SV team as Running Backs coach, with one year also coordinating the Special Teams.

Among the many talented players Coach Rockell has had the opportunity to work with are current CFL Running Back Mario Villamizar, All Canadian Running Back Dre Gordon and two British players who earned their way to the NFL, Defensive Lineman Lorn Meyers and Linebacker Jason Brisbane.

Working professionally as a Project Manager, Coach Rockell moved to Canada and the KW area in 2016 with his family, wife Kathy and their two children – Molly, 20, who is a current Laurier student, and Bailey, 19.
