Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks defensive lineman Asante Mizan carries the weight of his world on his back.

His hulking six-foot-two, 290-pound frame is already transporting a banged up wrist, a nicked elbow, a nagging headache no thanks to the Western Mustangs, endless worry about his mom and the hopes of his entire neighbourhood in New York City.

He could do without the nagging injuries, but Mizan is more than happy to shoulder the expectations from his family and friends.

WATERLOO, ON – The Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team lost their third consecutive game on Saturday afternoon as they fell 22-18 to the Windsor Lancers at University Stadium.

Undisciplined play by the Golden Hawks proved to be their undoing on Homecoming weekend as Laurier took 20 penalties, costing them 166 yards, and wiping out what was a strong rushing performance from running backs Dillon Campbell of Whitby, Ont., and Eric Guiltinan of London, Ont.

A top level talent, Perez was a member of IDFFL’s Team Canada touring team that competed in 7v7 National Championships at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

As a high school player, Josh may have been the most dominant WR in the GTA while starring at Lorne Park High School in Mississauga. Perez is 6’2 195pds and will begin participating with the Hawks in January 2016.

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

A poor performance on both sides of the ball against a very good opponent and we ended up with the score we deserved 59-9. We have corrected the film and the coaches/players are learning from the mistakes. The bye week has come at a very good time as we can get healthier after a very tough start to the season on the injury front. We also recognize that the two toughest teams in our conference are behind us and we can look to gain momentum and unlike last year try and peak as a team late in the year. This bye week will be used to get better in all aspects and to recapture the confidence leading into Homecoming.
