WATERLOO — So, Tristan Arndt, how’s the arm?

It was a legitimate question for the Wilfrid Laurier University quarterback —especially after he launched just six passes in the first half of Sunday’s clash against the University of Ottawa.

As it turns out, his limb is just fine.

“We did a really good job on the ground,” said the second-year pivot. “We didn’t want to get away from that.”

It is quiet around campus this week as everyone is off for Reading Week. The players are enjoying a much deserved break. Since they returned to campus back on January 3rd, they have had seven straight weeks of the off-season program where they have had four early morning lifts, a meeting and a practice every single week.

Once they return, we will continue with that template for just three more weeks, which will bring us to the middle of March and the start of our spring camp.

We were back inside at RIM Park for practice #5. We are now officially a quarter of the way through our off-season practices and we have definitely come a long way.

Individually, you can see the work ethic of each player in the weight room really paying off. Everyone looks stronger and more explosive.

As units (offence, defence and special teams), the off-season is great because the graduates are gone and you really use this time to build team chemistry with the players that are working towards starting roles for the first time.
