Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

Excitement is growing around the program as we are roughly six weeks away from training camp.

This Sunday, was our annual summer Organized Team Activity (OTA) and, amazingly, 75 players attended. The OTA is held once a summer and a chance to bring together the majority of the team.

Many players stay in Kitchener-Waterloo for the summer, but the OTA is something players who go home for the summer mark in their calendars and come back for.

Golden Hawk alumni & friends of the football program,

Many people tied to Laurier Football were in attendance on Saturday at Wildwinds Golf Links for the Gary Jeffries Golf Classic. It was a fun afternoon honouring the great career of Coach Jeff. Only six head coaches ever at our schools great football program and four of us were there together on Saturday.

WATERLOO, ON – Three members of the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks men’s football team were selected in the 2017 CFL Canadian Draft on Sunday night.

Linebacker Nakas Onyeka of Brampton Ont., was the first Golden Hawk to have his name called out during the draft. Onyeka was chosen 36th overall in the fifth round by the Toronto Argonauts, and was the fifth linebacker selected in the 2017 draft. Coming off his best season yet, the communications major shone in 2016 as he was the OUA President’s Award recipient, as well as an OUA First Team All-Star and U SPORTS First-Team All-Canadian.
